The Murphy Labs division aged them and they used Brazilian Rosewood fretboards. Set to be collector’s items from day one - the Flying Vs retailed at $20,000 with only 81 made which only lasted in stores for one week. The Explorers - were limited to only 19 in production and had a suggested price of $30,000. None of them were ever listed for public sale though. You would have to be one of the lucky few who called the Gibson Garage to secure one - or have an “in“ with a dealer that decided not to keep theirs or be a Gibson endorsed Artist.
