Gorilla Baby Tries To Run Away So Mum Can’t Steal Her Food

Gorilla mum Viringika is after her baby daughter’s food and starts chasing after her. Vuko is quickly jumping down the rocks, doing a backward roll into the grass and trying to hold on to her food. Mum is actually losing more food in chasing her little girl than she is going to gain from taking it from her daughter, but it’s not just about the food, it’s about Vuko learning the hierarchy of the troop. At the bottom of the rocks, mum catches her and stops her from rolling any further, pries open her little hands and gets the food. Vuko isn’t phrased and quickly collects the other food that mum lost during the chase. Mum sits on the rock and baby Vuko starts to look through the bush to find some more food. When she does, mum is quick to take it all off her again. Her daughter still manages to keep little bits here and there. A little later Vuko sits in the grass, holding a big potato. When she sees mum coming running towards her, she tries again for a quick getaway, but mum is quicker.
