A stroll through Lower Slaughter Gloucestershire and the River Eye July 2022

The village has been inhabited for over 1,000 years. it is 4 miles (6.4 km) south west of Stow-on-the-Wold. Although extremely pretty with buildings of Cotswold Stone one rarely sees many of the 250 inhabitants in their properties, just the strolling tourist’s looking enviously at many of the stunning buildings, on either side of the slow-moving River Eye. The name of the village derives from the Old English term “slough“ meaning “wet land“.
