The first few (spin, paw, come, jump through a hoop, jump to hand) are confidence building tricks, with come possibly being the most important “trick“ you can train your rat. Target, backup, and pull a string are also pretty easy to train, and have the added bonus of being the basis for many more complex tricks. Finally, fetch and basketball can be considered a bit harder to teach, but are the basis and groundwork for just about every item-based trick out there. I recommend training your rat(s) tricks in this order as well, so by the time you get to fetch and basketball, your rat will already understand that their actions influence if they get a reward or not and you will know how your rat learns, and thus be able to train them more effectively.
