CORE for Performance Coaches at Canyon//SRAM Racing

Dan Fleeman of Dig Deep Coaching, part of the Performance Team at Canyon//SRAM Racing, talks about how riders use CORE sensors in training and racing. Because thermoregulation is a very individual thing, the sensors allow coaches to create heat training protocols unique to each rider. Coaches use CORE’s new Heat Strain Score to measure how much thermal load each rider experiences in training and calculate whether or not she is adequately prepared for upcoming stage races. It is an easily digestible, quantifiable number that helps judge fatigue and make informed decisions. During racing, riders track their core temperature live on their Hammerhead cycling computers. Over time, each rider gets to better understand her body and learn when to cool down. The CORE sensor helps riders be proactive with cooling instead of waiting until they experience a performance decline. After races, coaches can analyse the data and learn if riders overheated.
