This OB Red Empress Peacock Cichlid is a STUD! The Red Empress Cichlid is very stunning in its adult male colors. African Cichlids come in many different species. The Red Empress is an endemic species found only in Lake Malawi, Africa, but there are a number of color variations depending on where in the lake they originate. This peacock cichlid color variety is one of the most sought after in the hobby. The OB Red Empress is not found in Lake Malawi but rather is a man-made cichlid species. It was engineered by crossing a male Red Empress species with an OB female peacock Cichlid, at least initially. OB Peacock Cichlids are hybrids and are cross breeds between pure Peacock Cichlid breeds. OB Peacock Cichlid are the same size as regular Peacocks and offer some unique coloration.
