Van Life on a Budget - Traveling Songwriter Living in DIY Sprinter Conversion

Anthony Roberge is a singer-songwriter who lives full-time in his DIY Sprinter van conversion so that he can travel and play music wherever he goes. He tries to keep his expenses low, between $1,000-$1,400 CAD/month. Anthony is a one man band; and he sings, plays guitar, drums, and harmonica. You can follow him on Instagram here: We met Anthony at Go-Van’s El Campo van life meetup in Quebec, Canada in 2018 and we love how passionate he is about creating music and making a living from his talent. He converted his van by himself for only $1,500. He’s got a platform bed, a simple kitchen with a propane camping stove and a jerry can of water, a roof vent, a swivel seat, and a quite a bit of storage under his bed for all of his instruments and music gear. He built the ceiling of his van with reclaimed wood from his brother’s barn. Living in a van helps him keep his expenses low because he doesn’t have to pay for an apartment while he’s away, and he doesn’t have to pay for hotels while he’s touring. Because it’s too cold in Quebec to live in his van during the winter, Anthony travels during the colder months and spends time enjoying nice weather, relaxing, and getting inspiration for his next songs.
