Brief Political History of Central America

This video looks at the history of Central America. It begins with the indigenous peoples of the isthmus, especially the Maya, looks at the Spanish colonization period, at their attempt at forging a federal republic in the 1820s and their ultimate failure and fragmentation. It then follows each one of the countries in brief, explains why Costa Rica has been the exception and why civil wars occurred in Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. #centralamerica #history
