Russian warship docks in Qatar during Western-dominated arms exhibition

On March 5, 2024, Dimitri Lascaris visited Port Hamad in Doha, Qatar during the Doha International Maritime Defence Expedition (DIMDEX). As part of the DIMDEX conference, eight warships from six different countries docked at Port Hamad. One of those ships was the Marshal Shaposhnikov, a Russian frigate that forms part of Russia’s Pacific fleet. Lascaris was given a tour of the Marshal Shaposhnikov by an officer of the Russian navy, who explained that the vessel was armed with a broad array of supersonic and subsonic missiles. Lascaris attempted to tour other vessels docked at Port Hamad, but was unable to do so.
