3 Judo Counters You NEED To Know - Tai otoshi, Osotogari, Uchi mata

Watch us demonstrate 3 simple judo counters to the judo throws Tai otoshi, Osotogari and Uchi mata. Kaeshi-waza (counter techniques) are used in judo to counter an opponent’s attack whereby they are thrown instead of you. First, we demonstrate a counter to Tai otoshi using Kosoto gari. Second, we demonstrate a counter to Osotogari using the same throw. Last, we demonstrate a counter to Uchi mata using Tai otoshi. We demonstrate all the techniques statically first and then give an example of how you can practice them on the move. Counters rely on the speed of your reaction and timing of techniques to work effectively but by starting with these 3 simple examples you can begin to work on this important aspect of judo.
