Pachelbel Canon in D Fantasia for hammered dulcimer (Цимбалы)

Timothy Seaman performs his hammered dulcimer solo fantasia based on the chord patterns that form the framework for Johann Pachelbel’s celebrated Baroque canon. A blog post has sheet music for this at The chord pattern happens to include all six of the primary chords in a diatonic key center: I, IV, and V are major triads; II, III, VI are minor triads. A version of this arrangement including flute improvisations by Seaman can be found on the final track of his holiday CD Profound Joy at The original idea was inspired by George Winston’s piano interpretation on his holiday album December —- especially the ’ragtimey’ approach. Thanks, George!
