Young Widow, Country Dance

I reconstructed this from an 1807 handwritten manuscript in my collection, from Boston. A description can also be found in the GENTLEMEN AND LADIES COMPANION, John Griffiths, London, 1798, and elsewhere. I shot this video at a ball at the end of a week-long workshop in Regency Era dances that I taught in Kirov, Russia. Notice that everyone is in accurate Regency Attire. The music is a recording of a fine performance by Musicians of the Old Post Road, sped up a little. Here is a free download of the 1807 manuscript. Young Widow is dance #18. If that is hard to read, Yuriy Chernyshov transcribed these descriptions here. (Thank you, Yuriy!)
