Mykola - Animated short

Mykola is my thesis film at Sheridan College from 2018 graduation year. I’ve been contemplating whether to post it for the longest time. Every time I look at it, I think I would have done a lot of things differently. It is based on a story of a veteran who went through all the horrors of ww2, serving his country and his people loyally and yet has to face a loss of his only grandchild in the recent ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It breaks my heart how much pain and suffering the bloodshed has caused to so many families, including mine. No matter how honourable and patriotic their actions are, it never is easy to look at their sacrifice without the deepest, most desperate sadness for the bright lives that withered away. I love my people and I’m proud to be a Ukrainan and it always hurts so much to see all the suffering while I cannot help in any way.
