March for Gaza: Thousands protest in Washington to call for ceasefire in Israel-Hamas conflict

Thousands called for a ceasefire in Gaza Saturday and urged U.S. President Joe Biden to stop sending arms to Israel, in what was one of the largest pro-Palestinian demonstrations so far in Washington, D.C. Protesters converged on the U.S. capital from all parts of the country to protest America’s support for Israel amid the conflict. “Nobody should be oppressed. Nobody should be killed indiscriminately,” said Hind Abi Akar, a protester at the march. “And we should all stand for humanity, whatever it is. So, we are here to stand against oppression and for freedom and justice and peace.” According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, more than 23,000 Palestinians have been killed since the Israel-Hamas conflict began following the Oct.7 attacks in which 1,200 people were killed and some 240 taken hostage.
