Flick, The Shadow Monster (Time-Lapse Drawing in ProCreate + Original Music)

This is my ProCreate time-lapse video drawing my original character Flick, and in today’s issue of GloomyVerseDetectiveSpecial I want to share 4 FUN FACTS and EASTER EGGS 🕳️🐇🧩 1️⃣ The phrase on the Angel Statue “Their punishment is the denial of Paradise” is the quote from Dante’s Inferno and corresponds to Limbo, the first Circle of Hell, which in many ways what The Dark Forest is. Did you already piece together that The Dark Forest is a place where the lost souls end up in this universe? 🎃 2️⃣ The broken lantern under the gravestone actually used to belong to the old man which we read about in the chapter 5 (Flick). 🕯️ That was also the same man who we saw in the illustration to the chapter 4 (Grin) - he was standing in the distance holding a lantern and looking at the girl through the vanishing wall between the two dimensions. 3️⃣ Fun fact, Flick is the first Shadow Monster to get his own musical theme. You can find it on my YouTube if you look up a video called “Roxana Line - Detective Flick”. 🎹 4️⃣ A little bit of literary / psychological analysis for this drawing… This is originally from my comment to @zackarymusic but I thought it was such a nice deep dive that it deserved its own spot on this list: This whole scene with the chapter together, if you look closely, has a very symbolic and reflective nature. ⚖️ 1) Flick being an unusual kid clearly has a very difficult relationship with the light which sparked him into existence (almost like a parent), and 2) even though the light almost killed Flick, he still hopes to see the sunrise - the most beautiful version of the light, which is almost unreachable for a shadow monster (seeking approval from a toxic parent). 3) The silent gravestone that Flick often visits (he comes there to reflect in peace) could be the symbol of a grandparent (remember the old man?) who could be kind / cast a shadow to hide in, but also reserved / not being able to fully protect from the raging power of the light. 4) The thin red line between the sky and the ground that’s growing bigger could be the symbol of the coming danger (maybe a fight bursting out?) - this is why the kid feels the need to hide / escape. 5) Also, the whole metaphor for shadow monsters is being a shadow of oneself, being constantly misunderstood and always feeling the need to hide (or being suppressed by someone). Let me know if you like this kind of psychological analysis of my work, or if you think it distracts from the storytelling. Do you want me to do more of these in the future? 🤓📖 Music in this video: Roxana Line - Frost Giant vs Handmade Hero © 2021
