Austria: Several arrested as anti-lockdown protesters and police clash in Vienna

Subscribe to our channel! Several arrests were made and pepper spray was deployed by the police during an anti-lockdown rally in Vienna on Saturday. Protesters could be seen clashing with officers while trying to break through a barricade set up by police to keep the group apart from a counter-demonstration nearby. Demonstrators at the so-called ’The Mother of All Demos’ were calling for the easing of the lockdown measures, which at the moment include the closures of all entertainment facilities and a ’stay-at-home’ order from 20:00 to 06:00 (18:00 to 04:00 GMT) ​the following morning. According to the police, around 400 people gathered in the rally at the Schweizergarten park before the clashes broke out. Similar protests have been taking place in Vienna over the last few months, with hundreds attending despite bans on gatherings.
