“Merrie Melodies Starring Bugs Bunny and Friends“ 1990 Road Runner opening

One of the opening sequences for the 1990 syndicated series “Merrie Melodies Starring Bugs Bunny and Friends.“ During the show’s first season (before it moved to Fox in 1992), each weekday Daffy would try to disrupt a cartoon clip that Bugs was trying to show us during the opening (it never worked out in Daffy’s favor). The clip Bugs would show (and thus Daffy’s action against it) varied from day to day, with five different sequences produced (one for each weekday). In this one, Bugs presents us with a clip from “Fast and Furry-ous,“ the first cartoon to star Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Following the opening is additional new animation of Bugs that was used to lead into commercial breaks.
