This watercolor “Autumn Light, Kyoto” was painted on returning from a recent workshop in Japan. We found ourselves transported to old Japan while setting up to paint in the early morning at Shirakawa Gion. The trees were deep yellows and golds creating a glowing warm light. Many visitors were walking about in Kimonos they had rented for the day and this juxtaposition made the scene irresistible to us...
