7 elements. Snowboard turn. - 7 элементов. Сноуборд поворот.

It’s possible to explain the turnings on a snowboard theoretically. We know there are skidded and carving turns, big and short radius turns, turns with up- and down- unweighting. We change elements of these turns and ride in different conditions of the slope, snow, and in different situations. You can highlight 7 elements in the turning pattern. They draw up the so-called “BASIC“ turn. There is used THE FIRST element at the end of the previous turn and at the entering a new one - “ BODY TURN“. The direction of the hips, body and shoulders is ahead of the direction of snowboard movement in the turn. The first element is helped by THE SECOND one - “ SETTING“. The movement of the feet makes the edge setting faster and accurately, as the feet are directly mounted to the snowboard. “ THE EDGE“ – THE THIRD element makes the controlled turn beginning. You need to lean on the edge in balance on two legs “fifty – fifty” in this part of the turn. The center of mass move away from the snowboard with knees slightly unbending. THE FOURTH element is “ EDGING“. It is used optimally in depending on the type of turn, slope, speed and snow conditions. We unbent our knees in the third element, so we created a possibility for bending the knees in THE FIFTH one. It adds ““. Bending the knees and ankles will shift the center of mass to the front leg slightly. It is important don’t delay this movement. The short pressure passes smoothly into THE SIXTH element - ““. Sometimes it is called “ROLLING“. The fifth and sixth elements are not separated. Bending the knees and ankles supplement the external resultant forces for impact on the snowboard in the turn. At that moment the center of mass moves faster than the snowboard. If we want to avoid overloading the nose of the snowboard on the toeside, we push the snowboard forward smoothly. We relieve the pressure on the edge at the sixth element and can run the board for a flat slide. ““ – THE SEVENTH element is performed on a flat snowboard. There is a low center of mass over the snowboard and the hips are deployed into a new turn. It gives us the readiness to enter the next turn.
