Hurricane Beryl slams Yucatan Peninsula: 140 MPH winds, evacuation in Quintana Roo

Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula began experiencing the impact of Hurricane Beryl on Friday, July 5, as the storm moved westward after crossing the Caribbean. Footage here, captured by Alexis Kelevra, shows heavy rain and strong winds in Playa del Carmen, located in Quintana Roo. “Be aware of water levels and wind impact on windows. You can hear the trees rustle,” Kelevra wrote on X. The governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, issued a red warning for “Maximum Danger” as shelters were receiving evacuated residents. Torrential rain and wind gusts of up to 140 mph were expected through Friday. #hurricaneberyl #mexico #hurricane The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertainment, opinion, real estate, culture, fashion, and more.
