Duke And Duchess Of York (1932)

The Duke and Duchess of York pay a visit to HMS York while she is docked in Chatham. Full title reads: “Chatham. The Duke & Duchess of York visit . York which Her Royal Highness launched in 1928.“ Chatham, Kent The Duke of York (Prince Albert, later King George VI) and Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) on board HMS York. The Duke is wearing naval uniform. They are walking with naval officers who are showing them around the ship. Pan along following Duchess, she walks past a life buoy with HMS York written on it. The Duchess inspects a line up of representatives of the ship’s crew, including Royal Marines as well as sailors. Members of the ship’s company gathered on the upper deck cheer and raise their hats. Their Majesties walk down a covered gangplank from the ship which is tethered in Chatham dockyard. The Duke salutes as he walks off the gangplank.
