Palestinians Protesting Jewish Settlements Clash with Israeli Forces in West Bank

Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank, Thursday, October 17, over land seizures of Jewish settlements. Hundreds of Palestinian protesters gathered in the village of Turmas Ayya in opposition to the encroaching Jewish settlers. Around a dozen were injured, witnesses said. Some 500,000 Israelis live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where more than 2.6 million Palestinians also reside. Palestinians argue that rapid settlement expansion in recent years could deny them a viable and contiguous state. (REUTERS / AFP)
