The Philosophy of Parkour

PARKOUR PARKOUR PARKOUR When I started doing parkour, I had always known that there was a sort of philosophy behind it. But I never knew or understood it. This video explains the history and philosophy of Parkour, covering people from Georges Hébert to David Belle and Sébastien Foucan, the founders of parkour and free running. Parkour is a really interesting discipline and so different from what most people think. ~Things that didn’t make it into the video~ The name of the group Belle and Foucan were in was called the of. The group named themselves that immediately after Belle and Foucan left, so I thought it might be a bit confusing to mention that. Belle and other of the Yamakasi have criticized freeruning because it emphasizes flips and creative movements, therefore it is inherently more likely to become a spectacle-type practice (whereas as parkour is not for an audience, it is for oneself).
