The countries are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The region has a population of over 642 million people, making it the third most populous region in the world, and a total land area of 4.5 million square kilometers. ASEAN was established in 1967 to promote economic cooperation and political stability among its member countries. The organization’s main objectives are to promote trade and investment among member countries, to facilitate economic integration, and to promote regional peace and also promotes cultural and social cooperation among member countries through various initiatives such as the ASEAN Cultural Heritage Digital Archive and the ASEAN Youth Exchange Program.
