Big Joe Williams - ’Highway 49’ live 1976

Big Joe Williams filmed outside his caravan in Crawford, Mississippi on the BBC series ’the Blues’ presented by the British Blues legend Alexis Korner and first aired in 1979. Big Joe’s playing his song Highway 49 later covered by the likes of Howlin Wolf, George Thorogood among countless others. Big Joe’s first recording of the song dates back to February 25th, 1935 it was released in July 1935. When he played, everything rattled but Big Joe himself.
