Galina Ulanova, Vladimir Preobrazhensky - ‘Waltz’ from ‘Les Sylphides’ (1952)

As I’ve uploaded a number of performances of ‘Les Sylphides’ and as we have been looking at film of Galina Ulanova in ‘Swan Lake’ I thought it might be interesting to see her dancing with Vladimir Preobrazhensky in the ‘Waltz’ from ‘Les Sylphides’ in 1952. What struck me while I was watching this footage today was the total sympathetic harmony of all parts of her body working together at any moment - to a degree and completeness that is rarely seen and that seems so natural, as though there could be no other way of synchronizing the parts to the whole and to the music.
