I often say if Jesus had been electrocuted, they would wear an electric chair instead of a cross. I focused on the cross and death for many years, I was always trying to die to the flesh, and I was never successful. Eventually after years of trying and suffering defeat I realized that the more I focused on death the worse I became. Jesus never told us to die, his teaching taught us how to live. He was a prototype, an example of how we could live if we focus on the truth of who we are. We are divine creators. What we believe and focus on is what we become. That is why religion was created to cause us to believe and focus on we were sinners separated from our divinity. In the beginning of our awakening or what some call being born again we were taught there was something wrong with us and we needed to change.
