Pet Shop Boys - Go West

Песня “Go West“ была написана группой “Village People“ в 1979 году. В 1993 году группа “Pet Shop Boys“ перепела её на новый лад для своего нового альбома «Very». Начальная тема песни в исполнении PSB очень сильно напоминает Гимн СССР, да и сам стиль стал более гимновым и маршевым, достаточно сильно отдавая “советским духом“. Как потом пояснили Нейл и Крис, они обнаружили сходство с гимном только после записи. Что интересно, при исполнении этой песни на московском концерте Live 8 в 2005 году, группа отказалась от инструментального вступления, вызывающего наиболее сильные ассоциации с гимном. The song “Go West“ was written by the Village People in 1979. In 1993, the group “Pet Shop Boys“ covered it in a new way for their new album “Very“. The opening theme of the song performed by PSB very much resembles the Anthem of the USSR, and the style itself has become more anthemic and marching, giving quite a strong “Soviet spirit“. As Neil and Chris later explained, they discovered the similarity to the anthem only after recording. Interestingly, when performing this song at the Moscow Live 8 concert in 2005, the band abandoned the instrumental intro that evokes the strongest associations with the anthem.
