1st RECORDING OF: Perfidia (in Spanish) - Lupita Palomera (1937)

Lupita (born Maria Guadalupe Palomera Chavez), was known in Mexico as “The Sweetheart Of Song” and “The Radio’s Sweetest Voice.” She was backed by a marimba band on this very first recorded version of the famous Mexican song “Perfidia,” popularized in the U.S. in 1941 by Xavier Cugat , Glenn Miller and others. NOTE: This post is based upon various online sources which give a 1937 recording date (and 1938 release), however I have yet to uncover a specific session date for this track (not even on the DAHR). No one seems to be denying that Palomera did record the song first, but because the earliest label scan currently available seems to be the pictured one which comes from a 1939 pressing, additional documentation would be welcome in regard to the actual recording date.
