African American Veterans Share Their Experiences in Vietnam

In recognition of National Black History Month, this video highlights the wartime experiences of three African Americans. All three veterans retired with honorable service from their respective branches of the Armed Forces. Retired Army Brigadier General Lawrence E. Gillespie was a helicopter pilot during two combat tours in Vietnam. Retired Air Force Brigadier General Timothy Boddie flew F-4 Phantoms in 201 combat missions. Retired Army First Sergeant William Swift, Jr. completed two combat tours in Vietnam; one as a dog handler, and the second as a helicopter door gunner.
