Incredible footage of a hailstorm in Queensland..!! Hailstones more than 10cm high crushed Gatton Queensland, Australia, December 24, 2023. Large hailstorms hit Gatton, Somerset and surrounding areas on Saturday, the result of heavy thunderstorms late last night. Large hailstones were recorded at more than 10 cm, and other golf ball hailstones were about 5 to 6 cm in size. On Saturday at 11:10 pm, a dangerous thunderstorm warning was issued for the South East Queensland region. A rogue supercell with a history of producing large swaths of 10cm hail, from south west Gatton to near Lowood, is still moving to the East North East towards the northern suburbs of Brisbane and the D’Aguilar Ranges. Although the storm has weakened slightly, giant hail is still possible with damaging winds and possibly heavy rain in the Gatton, Hatton Vale, Tarampa, Lowood, Clarendon, Coominya and possibly Fernvale areas.
