Doctor sees ’unintended’ cannabis legalisation consequences ‘every day’

University of Notre Dame head of general practice Dr Charlotte Hespe says she witnesses the “unintended consequences” of the legalisation of cannabis “every day.” Ms Hespe’s comments come as the Victorian Greens are pushing for the legalisation of cannabis with the imposition of a similar tax to alcohol. “For me it’s the unintended consequences of legalisation of cannabis,” she said. “People think because it’s legal there’s no harm, and there’s this sort of false premise that cannabis is a really safe recreational drug with no consequences, but that’s not true. “For me, as a doctor I see every day the consequences of too much cannabis.”
