Ethiopian Revolution: The Brutal Death of Emperor Haile Selassie (part 1)

For 3000 years Ethiopia was ruled under a monarchy: Ras Tafari Makonnen was crowned as Emperor In 2nd November 1930, becoming Emperor Haile Selassie. His position as Emperor traced its origins back to biblical times. He was widely believed to have descended directly from the marriage of King Solomon and Queen Sheba. In the 1930s a religion called Rastafarianism emerged in Jamaica and took its name from Haile Selassie’s, original title Ras Tafari. The followers of the religion viewed him as a messiah and a manifestation of God in human form. Some even believed he performed miracles.
