Can You Do These? (1926)

A trick using two corks is demonstrated. C/U of man holding two corks towards the camera. He places one cork in the crook between his thumb and forefinger and the other in the same place in his other hand. He then manages to take the corks from each hand with the other in one fell swoop. We are shown how to do the trick in slow motion. Second trick - C/U of hands tying knots in a piece of rope. By some nifty knotting, the magician is suddenly able to pull the ends of the rope and it unravels without having any knots in it. “We don’t offer £500 for solution so here it is again for you to try when you get home.“ The trick is repeated. “If you can’t do it, send stamped addressed envelope to “Pathe’s“ 103 Wardour St. London W1 for solution.“ We don’t see the face of the magician at all - just his hands.
