Mister Roberts - Synopsis

“Mister Roberts“ is a 1955 American comedy-drama film based on the 1946 Broadway play of the same name by Thomas Heggen and Joshua Logan. The movie is set during World War II and revolves around the misadventures of the crew members aboard a cargo ship named the USS Reluctant, serving in the Pacific Theater. The central character is Lieutenant Junior Grade Douglas A. Roberts (played by Henry Fonda), an officer who is serving as a cargo officer on the ship. Despite his deep desire to see combat and serve on a fighting ship, Roberts is stuck on the Reluctant, which is primarily engaged in supply runs between the various islands in the Pacific.
