Niger’s new military rulers have accused French President Emmanuel Macron of “blatant interference”. Colonel Amadou Abdramane said Macron’s recent comments “constitute further blatant interference in Niger’s domestic affairs”. Meanwhile, Macron said nations like Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger could have faced extinction without France’s military operations in the Sahel region. This comes as thousands of people gathered outside France’s military base in Niger to demand its troops leave.
