DirectStorage test of the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus-G with Phison IO+ Technology Firmware

The Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus-G is an advanced gaming SSD optimized for DirectStorage. It utilizes the Phison E18 controller with Micron’s fast 176-Layer TLC flash (B47R.) It is also the only SSD currently on the market which features Phison IO Technology, designed to boost bandwidth and sustained performance in DirectStorage workloads. A great choice for both PC and PS5 gamers. Today, we test its performance in two DirectStorage demos. The first one tests its capabilities in a game load scenario with DirectStorage, and its bandwidth is measured after GPU decompression. The second one tests its sustained random read performance in a DirectStorage workload, and we test its raw read capabilities prior to GPU decompression. The WD SN850X, which was used for comparison, was tested with Game Mode 2.0, which is supposed to have some of the same optimizations as the Phison IO Firmware. However, when comparing Game Mode 2.0 on vs off, there was no difference. The two articles used
