06-09-11 : City of Camden, NJ : 14 Alarm Fire

On June 9th, 2011 the Camden City Fire Department was distpatched to the intersection of Chestnut and Orchard Streets for a Building fire. Upon arrivial Ladder Company 2, Squad 7 and Battalion 1 Glassman reported heavy fire in a three story vacant structure with exposure issues. Ladder 2 and Squad 7 immediately went into service to protect the exposures on the “D“ side of the building. Battalion 1 and Car 1 Harper eventually called a total 14 alarms. Companies from Camden, Gloucester and Burlington Counties were called in to help battle the blaze that consumed two city blocks. There were a few minor firefighter injuries. The cause of this blaze is under investigation.
