Coastal Waterfall Watching | Alamere Falls Trail in Point Reyes
Springtime is abundant with blooms and life is a pollination of home grown gardens, wild flowers, and sweet smells. It’s a time to slow down, appreciate nature, and let all of the Earth’s natural wonders flow over you. As the spring’s rains nourish the Earth, it is the perfect time to go waterfall watching. We decided to embrace this with a hike to Alamere Falls from the Palomarin Trailhead. Alamere Falls is a rare type of waterfall known as a tidefall. It is only one of two tidefalls in California. The Alamere Falls trail begins in a grove of creaking eucalyptus trees. It travels out past the coastline, through cool shaded forest home to four lakes, past Wild Cat Camp, and out onto the sandy seashore to the waterfall. This epic waterfall cascades down over fragile shale cliff onto Alamere Creek Beach. Three separate cascades fed by Alamere creek flow upstream of the main Alamere Falls.
