But as they depart, they are also leaving behind tonnes of destroyed equipment, ranging from computer keyboards to boots. At the vast Bagram air base, this has sparked a boom in business for scrap merchants looking to sell on anything valuable. But it has also left many angry that the equipment was not put to better use in a country still reeling from years of warfare.
