Filmed with the stunning backdrop of the Puente Nuevo which spans the narrow chasm separating the two sides of the historic city of Ronda (Spain), this video is my humble tribute to the great guitar maestro Ramón Montoya (1880-1949).
Rondeña is a traditional flamenco palo that originated from the town of Ronda. It’s unique sound is due to its unusual guitar tuning: the guitar’s G string is tuned down a semitone to F# and the guitar’s low E string is tuned down a tone to D. The Rondeña in its solo from is thought to have been pioneered by the great guitar maestro Ramón Montoya (1880-1949).
