PSX Longplay [289] Nuclear Strike

Played by: Mad-Matt Last game in the Strike series. Like Soviet Strike, the presentation seems to have taken a back seat with a very basic title screen menu (although better then Soviet Strike) and fmv sequences that are so 90’s they just look weird, hard to follow and highly erratic much like the fmv in later road rash games and nfs to some extent. Maybe it was ok back then, but now it just seems like a really bad format and I much prefer the 16 bit original strike games compared to these last 2. A notable upgrade over the previous game is the games HUD which now displays a mission way point and also a map screen to better spot enemies and pickups. While recording the game, I tried to do each missions in order and show the various video clips associated with each. I don’t often leave the mission path looking for secret pickups/vehicles but I do try to show them if they are in my path. Sometimes you will get alternative vehicles in a mission but you don’t have to use them. Mission 4 was almost a complete failure and I messed this one up quite badly and pretty much just scrapped through. In this mission you need to command other squads to help you hold the enemy back and also find and destroy secret tunnels the enemy use to get round the map faster. I did not do this part of the mission very well and it looked like I was going to fail. I was a little disappointed that there was no real ending other than the usual mission well done and then the game simply loops back to level 1. The game ends with a small video clip of the next game in the series ’Future Strike’ which we know becomes LAPD Future Cop.
