This is the second video I extracted from “Big Bands On The Edge,“ a concert I produced in 1989 at the Emerson Majestic Theatre in Boston. The Hard Blues is a composition by Julius Hemphill. It flashes between straight-up blues, extra-bop lines, funk and is leading a group composed of musicians from the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra and the Either Orchestra.
