“진격의 방탄 (Attack on Bangtan/The Rise of Bangtan)” is one of BTS’ anthemic tracks. In between enthusiastic rap verses and a heavy chorus, the group announce their arrival, chanting their own name.
The song is ironic and powerful, especially in retrospect considering that they grew to become the biggest band in the world.
The title of the song references the popular Japanese manga series, Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人). The correct translation of its original title would be “Advancing Titan.”
In the past, BTS have shown their admiration for the anime and manga many times. For example, as shown in Rookie King: Channel BTS, in their dorm they had one of the Attack on Titan characters mask.
