VOYAGER 2 AT TRITON

The Voyager 2 spacecraft flew by Triton, a moon of Neptune, on August 25, 1989. Paul Schenk, a scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston, used Voyager data to construct this video recreating that exciting encounter. The Voyager mission is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in Pasadena, California, for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters in Washington. Caltech manages JPL for NASA. Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Lunar & Planetary Institute
