Since the weather was nice with a decent wind I’ve gone out and test for a bit with the small amount of electrics I’ve got so far.
The blade design is from Ed Lenz from . I’ve adapted that design into something 3D printable with a helical shape for strength.
- Turns out the NEMA17 rated for 12 Vdc and of operation is far too weedy for operating something this large.
- The belt drive is so much quieter over the gear drive! The ratio is a 51 tooth pulley with a 23 tooth motor pulley.
- The DC/DC converter allows a input voltage of just 30 Volts, that’s a bit low considering the open circuit
...voltage of the NEMA17 produces over 30 Volts easily unloaded. Now it smells funny ;)
- The LiPo battery is a 4Ah 2S (7.4 Volt) battery, the voltage is around 7.6 Volts from storage and can be charged at 1C safely.
- Each winding of the NEMA17 has a seperate bridge rectifier, these are then wired parallel for double the current.
- The RPM counter is frShow more
