Vladimir Putin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza was released from a Russian prison in an international swap deal on Aug. 1. “I was absolutely certain that I was going to be let out and be executed,“ the Russian-born journalist said in an exclusive interview with CBC’s Briar Stewart. “But instead of the local woods, the prison convoy took me to the airport.“ While he was serving his sentence, Canada gave him honorary citizenship, and he has been told that there will be a citizenship ceremony for him in the near future.
