China builds mega gas and oil platform for Gulf

The platform is said to be the world’s heaviest, weighing over 17,000 tonnes, according to state broadcaster CCTV. It is expected to produce and transport 24 million tonnes of crude oil and 7.4 billion cubic metres of associated petroleum gas every year. State-owned China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) spent 34 months building the platform.
