A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck near Sydney on Friday evening.
The tremors occurred at 20:53 local time.
The epicenter was located at a depth of 9 km in the Blue Mountains National Park near Warragamba.
A specialized website received more than 3,000 messages from people who felt the earthquake.
“I have lived here for 34 years and have never experienced an earthquake,” said one local resident.
Eyewitnesses report that dogs began barking a couple of minutes before the earthquake.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
There is no tsunami threat to Australia.
