After months of fighting around Avdiivka in the south, Russian troops have penetrated a few key micro districts of the city and threaten to unhinge Ukraine’s defense of the city. If Avdiivka falls, more of the Ukrainian southern front becomes more vulnerable. But Russia is on the attack throughout the entire line of contact in Ukraine. The writing is on the wall: Ukraine cannot defeat Russia militarily.
